Dad dies in SI house fire

The father of a 1-year-old girl and 2-month-old boy died yesterday in an early-morning Staten Island house fire, police said.

Jameek Champagne was found in the third-floor attic on Osgood Avenue in Clifton just before 5:40 a.m.

His brother and grandfather, roused by a neighbor, escaped uninjured.

It took firefighters an hour to extinguish the blaze.

“We were supposed to take Christmas photos of our family today,” said Abbey Cordero, 23, the mother of the kids. “He was a great father, a family man.”

The blaze’s cause had not been determined, fire marshals said.
