Green for green energy

ALBANY — New York state is providing $250 million for renewable-energy-generation projects.

The funding is available through a competitive process overseen by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. The state currently has contracts with two biomass and 10 landfill biogas plants, 25 hydroelectric facilities and 17 wind farms.

The program is geared to wind, hydroelectric, solar, biomass and other clean-energy resources.

The projects that will get funding are to be announced by next summer.
