Writer in ‘dog’ged search

Heartbroken author Dennis Lehane has promised to name a character in his next book for anyone who can help him find his lost dog, Tessa.

The Brookline, Mass.-based author of “Mystic River” offered the unusual deal in a Christmas Day Facebook posting after the pooch jumped a fence at his home and vanished.

“Naming of character in the next book for anyone who gets her back to us! (No, really!)

“Again — Tessa, black-and-tan beagle, 24 hours on the lam, sweet as all hell. Thank you!”
