Boley hopes to be back with Giants next season

Michael Boley didn’t play much Sunday in Baltimore, leading to speculation he might not fit in the Giants’ plans for 2013.

Boley says he wants to return to play out the final year of his contract and then wants to remain even longer. A starting outside linebacker on last year’s Super Bowl winner, Boley hasn’t had an especially strong season.

“I’d hope so,’’ Boley said yesterday when asked if he feels he’s coming back. “I hope I’ve done enough. I love it here, I’d love to finish my career here. Hopefully get another contract here and play for some more years.’’

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell used a linebacker-heavy scheme against the Ravens, yet Boley got only 21 snaps, fewer than Chase Blackburn (79), Mark Herzlich (60), Jacquian Williams (36), Keith Rivers (35) and Spencer Paysinger (31). Tom Coughlin said Boley’s reduced role was because of a “cumulative health thing’’ after Boley missed practice time the past few weeks with hip and back issues.

Boley said he was fine.

“I could have played more,’’ he said. “I think so. It’s water under the bridge now.’’

➤ WR Hakeem Nicks doesn’t know if he’s going to play Sunday vs. the Eagles and acknowledged he’s been hurting all season with foot and knee issues.

“I just had to play with the hand I was dealt,’’ Nicks said. “I ain’t gonna sit here and make no excuses for it. As a man you got to look at it as a man, you got to take what’s thrown at you. I learned from this, I’m gonna definitely get better from it.’’ Nicks said he doesn’t think he will need knee surgery after the season but does plan on extensive rest.

➤ Guard Chris Snee is dealing with a hip injury but said as long as he can get into his stance he will play. DE Justin Tuck missed the Ravens game with a sore shoulder but said he told head trainer Ronnie Barnes “regardless of what we gotta do’’ he’s playing on Sunday. Asked if he has anything left in the tank, Tuck said “I got a lot in my tank. Don’t start that.’’

➤ Rookie RB David Wilson said teammates have implored him to do his back-flip celebration if he scores a touchdown. “So I had a change of heart,’’ said Wilson, who previously decided to eschew the flip. … Six Giants did not practice: CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring), C David Baas (hip/shoulder), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (knee/foot), DT Chris Canty (knee), Nicks and and Snee. … TE Travis Beckum (knee) was put on injured reserve and DB Terrence Frederick was signed to take his place on the roster. DB Brandon Bing was signed to the practice squad.
