Yule get a little snow on holiday

Santa will have something to land his sleigh on.

Light snow showers will hit New York City in the early hours of Dec. 25, according to AccuWeather meteorologists.

They predict “a little accumulation” of snow, and temperatures ranging from 29 to 38 degrees on Tuesday.

The wet weather is set to begin Christmas eve and carry into the next morning.

“For New York City, it will be rain and wet snow,” said Mike Pigott, senior meteorologist at Accuweather.

The total accumulation could be as much as three inches, Pigott said.

That could pose problems for anyone driving to visit the family on Christmas.

“Anyone wanting to get an early start traveling, or traveling Christmas Eve, will have some slick roads to deal with,” he predicted.

The nasty weather should continue for the rest of the week, and could wreak havoc on travelers.

“The storm will be a mix of rain and sleet,” Pigott said.

While there isn’t likely to be much accumulation in New York, northern New Jersey may get more.

And “because it’s a big storm, anyone flying is going to see delays from Chicago on.”
