Gabrielle Giffords has private meeting with Mayor Bloomberg on gun control

Here’s former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt two years ago, meeting secretly yesterday with Mayor Bloomberg and others.

Giffords (right), her husband, Mark Kelly (second from right) and Bloomberg (left) discussed Hizzoner’s efforts to push for additional gun-control regulations in the wake of several mass shootings, a City Hall source said.

Giffords and Kelly arrived without fanfare for the late-afternoon session at City Hall and were ushered by security to see Bloomberg.

The couple greeted security staff but declined to speak with reporters.

The meeting ended in less than an hour, and Bloomberg declined to talk about it.

Giffords was shot in the head on Jan. 8, 2011, by deranged gunman Jared Lee Loughner. He shot 18 people, six fatally, as Giffords met constituents outside a Tucson supermarket.
