Queens man killed in LIE wreck with ‘drunken’ relative behind wheel: police

A Queens man was killed yesterday when a boozed-up relative crashed this SUV on the Long Island Expressway, cops said.

Ricardo Rivas, 39, hit the concrete median in the eastbound lanes at around 4 a.m., toppling his 2003 Ford Explorer and sending Carlos Rivas, 27, flying from the car, police said. Several smashed beer bottles were spotted at the scene near 99th Street in Corona.

The younger Rivas was dead on arrival at New York Hospital-Queens.

Ricardo Rivas was charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated, police said.

Three back-seat passengers — ages 22, 35 and 45 — were injured but were in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.

“I feel so sad for them,” said Culemi Sosa, a neighbor of Ricardo Rivas who said the family was from El Salvador. “They are a nice family.”
