All Tim Tebow needs is the right system.

That’s what Urban Meyer, the former college coach of the Jets quarterback, said yesterday on ESPN Radio. Meyer, who won a national title with Tebow as his quarterback at Florida, compared him favorably to Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Cam Newton.

“We watched RG3 at the Washington Redskins, Wilson at the Seahawks, the new quarterback at the 49ers, and Carolina, and they are actually running a spread offense in the NFL,” said Meyer, who is now the coach at Ohio State. “So my hope is, and I’m sure Tim feels the same way, is to go play in one of those systems where they let him play.”

Tebow’s time with the Jets is likely over after a tumultuous season. After the Jets benched Mark Sanchez, he was passed over by coach Rex Ryan in favor of Greg McElroy and then again when the Jets went back to Sanchez for the season finale against the Bills. Tebow never played as much Wildcat as the team advertised and was not a significant part of the offense all season.

Reports have Tebow resurfacing with his hometown Jaguars after being released or traded by the Jets.

“I talk to him every week, and he’s still the most positive guy I’ve ever been around,” Meyer said. “He was so excited to go to New York and play for Coach Ryan and the whole situation there. It didn’t turn out, but you have to move on.”
