Slays dive in Brooklyn

Murders are at a 52-year low in Brooklyn, officials said yesterday.

“Only” 149 people were killed there in 2012, a 25 percent drop from the previous year and the lowest number for the borough since 1960, Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes said.

Citywide, the 2012 murder toll dipped significantly from 2011. Manhattan had 64 murders last year, a 9 percent drop from the prior year.

The Bronx saw a 23 percent decrease, while Staten Island logged a 38 percent decline, stats show.

Queens was the only borough to see an increase, up 1 percent from 2011.
