Burger King adds chicken nuggets to its menu

Move over, McDonald’s – a new nugget competitor has emerged.

Burger King announced menu updates this week, with the fast food restaurant chain adding chicken nuggets.

They look like McNuggets. They’re as nutritious as McNuggets. Just don’t call them McNuggets.

Burger King’s chicken nuggets are being sold in orders of four, 10 and 20 nuggets. According to Burger King’s website, the nuggets are “made with premium white meat … tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside.”

The nuggets are coated in a “flavorful tempura style batter.”

In terms of nutrition, a 10-piece order of nuggets amounts to 470 calories and 890 mg of sodium – nearly identical to the 470 calories and 900 mg of sodium found in a 10-piece order of McNuggets.

McNuggets have been a popular McDonald’s menu feature since the 1980s, when commercials showed animated McNuggets performing circus acrobatics and delivering knock-knock jokes, embodying Halloween characters and playing basketball.
