FOOTBALL: Brown wasn’t drunk

An autopsy found that Cowboys practice squad player Jerry Brown Jr. was sober when he was killed in a crash that led to an intoxication manslaughter charge against teammate Josh Brent at the wheel.

Michigan State junior running back Le’Veon Bell said he is headed to the NFL Draft. Also declaring for the draft was Florida State junior defensive end Bjoern Werner.

GOLF: McIlroy may skip Olympics

Rory McIlroy said he may sit out the 2016 Olympics to avoid a storm over the sensitivities of playing for either Britain or Ireland. The 23-year-old McIlroy, who is from Northern Ireland, would be eligible for selection by either Great Britain or Ireland at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro when golf makes its Games debut.

Steve Stricker, one of 30 players in the PGA Tour-opening Tour of Champions tournament in Kapalua, Hawaii, that starts today, said he is heading toward semi-retirement and will play about 10 tournaments this season.

Bubba Watson said he’d been to the hospital three times over the years because of panic attacks. The Masters champ said doctors haven’t found anything wrong.

MLB: Frasor signs with Texas

Setup reliever Jason Frasor signed a $1.5 million, one-year deal with Texas. The 35-year-old righty spent most of his career with Toronto.

The Astros, who are moving to the American League, will open the 2013 season on March 31 when they host the Rangers.

Giants pitcher Sergio Romo is facing a misdemeanor summons in Las Vegas alleging he violated airport rules on New Year’s Day. Romo allegedly failed to provide proper ID at a document checkpoint and engaged in a dispute with TSA officers.

Charleston Southern coach Jay Mills resigned after 10 seasons. Mills, 51, was 48-63 and 5-6 this season.

ETC.: Donovan to return to WNBA

Anne Donovan, Seton Hall women’s basketball coach, is returning to the WNBA to coach the Connecticut Sun after the end of this season. Donovan, a former head coach of the Liberty, won a WNBA title with Seattle in 2004.

Jake McCabe and John Gaudreau scored two goals each to lead the U.S. to the final of the world junior hockey championships with a 5-1 win over Canada in Ufa, Russia. In tomorrow’s final, the U.S. will face Sweden, which beat Russia 3-2 in a penalty shootout.

Phil Jackson has gotten engaged to longtime girlfriend Jeanie Buss, executive vice president of the Lakers and daughter of the team’s owner.
