Colts’ Arians misses game after being hospitalized

BALTIMORE — Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, the interim head coach when Chuck Pagano missed 12 games to undergo leukemia treatments, was hospitalized and missed yesterday’s 24-9 wild-card loss to the Ravens.

Quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen called the plays.

Arians became dizzy in the morning and, after tests in the hospital, doctors thought he had a virus or inner ear infection. They recommended he remain hospitalized overnight before returning to Indianapolis today.

“Bruce is fine, he’ll be back with us [today],’’ Pagano said.

“Obviously, it wasn’t the ideal situation,’’ Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said. “But that’s not an excuse. Clyde did a great job. Our attitude all year long has been next man up.’’
