Shakira and Spanish soccer-star boyfriend Gerard Pique tweeted this revealing photograph yesterday, announcing they’re expecting a baby.
“We’d like to celebrate the imminent birth of our first child with all of you,” the sexy Colombian songstress tweeted to her more than 19 million followers.
It’s been a big week for the FC Barcelona star Pique, who was just nominated as one of Europe’s top players.
The couple asked well-wishers to donate to the United Nations Children’s Fund. “As you all know, we will soon be welcoming our first child into the world, and to celebrate his birth, we’ve organized a virtual baby shower in association with UNICEF,” the big-hearted couple said in a video message. “In lieu of receiving gifts for our baby, as with a traditional shower, we would like to offer support for babies who live in conditions of extreme poverty throughout the world.”
Shakira, 35, and Pique, 25, said donations will go straight to buying life-saving supplies for babies in poverty.
“Thanks to all of you, they will receive, in the form of inspired gifts, therapeutic food packets, vaccines and rehydration salts, which will help save the lives of hundreds of thousands of babies,” they said.
