Vaccines ‘flu’ off the shelves

Several pharmacies around the city ran out of flu shots yesterday, as panicked parents clamored to get their children vaccinated.

The influenza-vaccine shortage comes a day after Gov. Cuomo declared a state of emergency to attack the worst flu outbreak in years, allowing pharmacists to immunize kids, as well as adults.

“We are seeing spot shortages,” said city Health Department spokesman Sam Miller. “ But more will be delivered starting [today]. People should not panic.”

Hospital emergency rooms have also been overwhelmed by the demand, and officials ask that people go to a doctor’s office or clinic.
