CAIRO — An Egyptian appeals court yesterday overturned ex-President Hosni Mubarak’s life sentence and ordered that he be retried on charges that he failed to prevent the killing of hundreds of protesters during the 2011 uprising that toppled his regime.
Mubarak, 84, will remain in custody in a military hospital. He was rumored last year to have been close to death, but his current state of health has not been reported.
