E-books may finally be catching on with children.
A report commissioned by children’s publisher Scholastic Inc. said 46 percent of respondents ages 9 to 17 had read an e-book as of 2012, compared to just 25 percent in 2010.
And about half of those who have not read an e-book say they want to, said yesterday’s report.
E-books comprise 25 to 30 percent of total book sales, but the number’s been much lower among kids.
The rise of iPads has helped expand the availability of picture books and other children’s books in electronic format.
