Rays of sunshine all over Florida

Food, folks and fun

It’s that time of year again in Miami. No, we’re not talking about Art Basel — it’s the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, during which Food Network stars (and their hangers-on) descend upon the city. The four days of food and festivities, Feb. 21-24, include “Garden to Glass,” a cocktail event hosted by Emeril Lagasse at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden ($95) and Brunch with Bobby Flay at the Raleigh ($175). Dozens of other star chefs and TV personalities, including Hugh Acheson, Scott Conant, Nigella Lawson, Andrew Zimmern and newest Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli will also bring the flavor. sobefest.com

All that jazz

The eighth annual Jazz in the Gardens festival, March 16 and 17 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, is about a lot more than jazz. Hosted by radio personality Michael Baisden, this year’s lineup includes Ne-Yo, Babyface, New Edition and Earth Wind & Fire. Single-day general admission tickets start at $45, and travel packages can help you make a mini-vacation out of it. Pick the Exclusive Jazz package ($660 per person, double occupancy), which includes two nights at the W Ft. Lauderdale, seated tickets and round-trip transfers to the stadium, or the Golfer’s Jazz Package ($530 per person, double occupancy) includes two nights at Shula’s Hotel and Golf Club in Miami Lakes, seated tickets, transfers to the stadium and one round of golf. jazzinthegardens.com

Steak escape

A New York-style steakhouse meets classic French cooking at the new Setai Grill in the Setai Miami Beach. Executive chef Mathias Gervais and chef de cuisine Thomas Griese have composed a beef-centric menu — with cuts from NYC butcher Pat LaFrieda — and the restaurant, which opened last month, boasts an in-house curing room. Offerings include a 32-ounce bone-in tomahawk steak ($125), a foie gras torchon ($28) and caviar ($125 to $275). thesetaihotel.com

Prom night

Panama City Beach is celebrating the annual migration of snowbirds to Florida with events including its second annual Winter Resident Senior Prom, open to both residents and visitors on Feb. 7 at Edgewater Beach and Golf Resort. A king and queen will be crowned, and their royal privileges will include a ride in that weekend’s Mardi Gras parade at Pier Park. The parade, on Feb. 8 and 9, features two days of floats, masked performers, Cajun food and fireworks. visitpanamacitybeach.com
