Patriots’ Gronkowski has arm surgery: report

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had surgery on his broken left arm, a person with knowledge of the operation told the Associated Press.

Gronkowski suffered the season-ending injury Sunday when he caught a pass from Tom Brady in the first quarter and landed out of bounds on the arm in New England’s 41-28 Divisional playoff win over the Texans.

Coach Bill Belichick had nothing to say about Gronkowski during a conference call. Belichick did say running back Danny Woodhead, who didn’t return after hurting his thumb on the first offensive play, could have played if necessary.

TITANS: Police in Jersey City say they’ve been trying to contact Titans wide receiver and former Rutgers star Kenny Britt to question him about an incident Sunday in which he allegedly drove a friend to the hospital after the man had been stabbed at a party.

Capt. Edgar Martinez said Britt has refused to come in and speak with police and that statements Britt has put out saying he’s cooperating with police are false.

EAGLES: Former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt interviewed with the Eagles yesterday morning as the team’s coaching search entered its third week.

The Eagles also were scheduled to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden. Seahawaks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is scheduled to return today for a second interview.

BEARS: Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will interview a second time for the Bears’ coaching job, according to Seattle coach Pete Carroll.

PANTHERS: A person familiar with the situation said Pat Shurmur and Hue Jackson interviewed yesterday for the vacant offensive coordinator position.

COLTS:
Jimmy Raye, who spent the last five seasons as the Chargers’ director of player personnel, was hired as the new vice president of football operations.

DOLPHINS: Owner Stephen Ross unveiled a plan yesterday to modernize Sun Life Stadium, promising to personally cover the majority of the $400 million estimated cost of the project. The rest would come from tax dollars, and that would likely need approval from both state and local lawmakers. However, Ross said any public dollars would come from a slightly higher county hotel tax as well as a larger state sales-tax rebate.
