Investigators search for clues after engineer falls to death during inspection of Aqueduct Bridge

Investigators are trying to figure out how a 50-year-old engineer worker fell from the Aqueduct Bridge to his death while inspecting the span in the Bronx this morning.

The man, whose name has not been released plunged 100 feet from the pedestrian span, also known as the High Bridge. He was part of a crew preparing for major renovations to the walkway.

The worker fell from the top of the bridge, which arches over the Harlem River, connecting Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, his colleagues told the Post. The victim landed on dirt next to the Metro North train tracks below, witnesses said.

“I’m trying to figure out how it happened,” one member of the construction crew said. “I don’t know what happened. And the guys with him don’t know.”
