Midtown makeover

Steve Cuozzo describes the proposed re-development of Midtown as a “Hail Mary play” (“Grand Central Crisis,” PostOpinion, Jan. 13).

We agree. Unfortunately, what Midtown needs is a bold and comprehensive game plan to fully fund decaying transit, protect critically important buildings, dramatically improve the streets, sidewalks and underground passages that are its arteries and, yes, build new buildings.

As most football fans know, Hail Mary plays are, with time winding down, acts of desperation that rarely succeed.

Perhaps this is not the metaphor Cuozzo intended for the Bloomberg administration’s attempt to remake Midtown in his final months as mayor.
