The WAGs of some of New York’s top athletes came to root on Amber Sabathia, who showed her CCandy collection for the first time at Petite Parade, otherwise known as kids fashion week.
“I have a lot of friends who have come out to support me,” says the wife of Yankees ace CC Sabathia.
And it was a virtual peek into a potential future roster of the Yankees and the Knicks.
Amar’e and Alexis Stoudemire’s four children mingled with Sabathia’s brood. Elaina Watley, Victor Cruz’s girlfriend, held their tutu-clad 2-year-old daughter, Kennedy, until she joined Stoudemire’s tweed- and neon-clad daughters, Ar’e and Assata. And Tiki Barber’s tiny girl, Brooklyn, was clutched by his blond wife, Traci Johnson.
“I stalked Petite Parade a little bit when I started the clothing line,” admits Amber Sabathia, who began designing togs with nontraditional baseball team logos, in conjunction with Major League Baseball.
“Petite Parade puts on a really good high-fashion kids fashion week, so if we are going to do it, we have to do it big.”
The mother of four started the line last year with MLB, and this season the clothing will be sold in every stadium.
She says her slimmed-down hubby (who lost 40 pounds since last season) approves.
“When I first started, I said, ‘I really want to change it up and do this,’ and he said, ‘I think it’s an amazing idea. Can I help you design?’ ” She adds that he designed a sweatsuit last season. “There’s a sweatsuit from last season with Yankees down the sleeve and the leg, and it was like that funky ’80s baby look. And that was all him,” she says of her hubby, who missed the event because he’s currently at spring training.
