Elderly Queens man dead after being struck by car

An elderly man was struck and killed by a car in Woodhaven, police said.

The 67-year-old had been standing on a crossing island at Woodhaven Boulevard near Jamaica Avenue when he stepped onto the street, and was hit by a 2002 Honda Accord in the right lane shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday, cops said.

EMS rushed the pedestrian to Jamaica Hospital, but he could not be saved, authorities said. His name was not released pending family notification.

The driver, 58, stayed on the scene, and no criminality is suspected at this time, police said.
