Firefighters battle four-alarm blaze in Brooklyn

Firefighters battled a four-alarm inferno in Brooklyn early today, authorities said.

The fire began shortly before 1:30 a.m. in Cypress Hills at a three-story brick building on Ridgewood Avenue near Chestnut Street, according to an FDNY spokesman. There is a bodega on the first floor of the building, and four apartments above it.

The Bravest extinguished the third-alarm flames shortly before 4:30 a.m., but the blaze was deemed a four-alarm fire shortly after as more firefighters came for relief purposes, authorities said. Almost 170 firefighters ultimately came to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet by fire marshals.
