Bibhu Mohapatra

The Who: Attendees included actresses Nichole Galicia and Dawn Olivieri, a well as socialite Olivia Chantecaille and fashion fixture Loius Row.

The What: Mohapatra took us to the 1930s, with a collection inspired by the photographs of Man Ray. Skirts, day dresses and coats were marked by a mosaic pattern, echoing slim, old Hollywood-like silhouettes. And while crepe, chiffon and organza pulled the sophisticated looks together, Mohapatra wasn’t coy about his penchant for fur. Broadtail, raccoon and fox were all used, adding a layer of decadence to the the designer’s black, gold, ivory and teal pallete.

The Highlight: A cinched-waist cocktail dress with flecks of gold and feather trim was delightfully timeless and feminine.

The Takeaway: Some youthful touches would have been nice, but what did come down the runway was all quite chic.
