Supermarket mogul Catsimatidis launches massive phone campaign in mayoral bid

Supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis blitzed the phone lines of more than 400,000 city Republicans with an automated message promoting his bid for mayor, sources said today.

The “robo-call” is an indication that the billionaire businessman is willing to dig deep into his rich pockets to reach voters.

“Jobs, jobs, jobs. I’ve created thousands of jobs right here in New York City and as mayor I’ll create hundreds of thousands of new jobs,” Catsimatidis, who describes himself as an “independent Republican businessman”, vows in the recording.

Catsimatidis is facing off against former MTA chairman and Deputy Mayor Joe Lhota, Doe Fund founder George McDonald and Manhattan publisher Tom Allon.

Former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, a Democratic turned independent, is also pushing for the right to run in a GOP primary.

The Democrats vying for mayor include Council Speaker Christine Quinn, former city Comptroller Bill Thompson, current Comptroller John Liu Public Advocate Bill deBlasio and former Brooklyn Councilman Sal Albanese.
