The Bronx man who was watching his girlfriend’s son when the infant died has given conflicting accounts of what happened, but hasn’t been charged yet, law-enforcement sources said.
The mother, 24, of 5-month-old Jacob Agusto found him unresponsive yesterday on a bed about 2 p.m. in their Soundview home, cops said.
She gave Agusto CPR and called the police, but he could not be revived.
A police source said her beau has a violent and lengthy rap sheet, and has been busted by the police department at least 50 times. He has been cuffed for assault, robbery, and weapon possession, among other charges.
Police are waiting to see a scan of the baby’s brain to see if he was shaken to death, sources said. The medical examiner will determine whether the death was a homicide.
