Anna Sui

The Who: Star power packed the front row and the runway, with Michele Hicks, Vincent Gallo and Sofia Coppola coming to watch and Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson and Hilary Rhoda coming to walk. A string of industry heavy hitters included Grace Coddington, Suzy Menkes and Hamish Bowles.

The What: When the lights came up and the music came on, the models at the top of the runway began a cheeky dance routine that signaled Sui’s Paris-circa-1960s influence. Swingy dresses and tunics were paired with matching tights, and chain-strapped bags were quilted, a la Chanel. The looks were young and the colors were rich; indigo, teal, magenta and grape. Faux Mongolian and chinchilla fur draped over lace dresses and daisy-printed separates, and between the sequined mesh and grommet-adorned suede, Sui hit all the cool girl notes.

The Highlight: Anna Sui was mixing patterns long before the masses caught on, and her display of the trend was once again magnificent.

The Takeaway: We can’t actually live in 1960s Paris, but thank goodness we can dress like we do.
