Zimmerman served with divorce papers in jail

It was a rough day for George Zimmerman, as the notorious neighborhood watchman was charged with assaulting his girlfriend, served with divorce papers by the estranged wife who’d been hunting for him and forced to scrape together $9,000 for bail, even though he’s $2 million in debt.

The 24 hours of hell for the killer vigilante began late Monday, when he was served with divorce papers by Shellie Zimmerman at Florida’s Seminole County Jail, where he was being held for allegedly pointing a gun at his new gal pal.

Dawn brought only more pain for the pudgy rage-aholic, as he was was hauled into court Tuesday and charged with felony aggravated assault for the gun incident.

Zimmerman’s girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, said she feared for her life because her live-in boyfriend was suicidal and said he “had nothing to lose.”

During the hearing, Zimmerman claimed he is more than $2 million in debt.

Rather than a high-powered defense attorney as his side — as he had when he was tried earlier this year for fatally shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin — Zimmerman was represented by a public defender who claimed his client had less than $150 on hand.

The lawyer, Jeff Dowdy, claimed Zimmerman, 30, is unemployed and being supported by his family.

“I would think it would be difficult for George Zimmerman to get a job in central Florida,” Dowdy, said.

Despite his financial troubles, Zimmerman was somehow able to get his hands on the nine grand.

But upon his release, he was forbidden from entering Scheibe’s Apopka, Fla., house, required to wear a monitoring device — and banned him from possessing his precious firearms.

It was also revealed Tuesday that the 230-pound Zimmerman allegedly tried to choke Scheibe a week before the gun incident.

Zimmerman, was unshaven and wore gray jail garments and handcuffs during the hearing.

In the 911 calls from Monday’s incident, Scheibe can be heard yelling at him during the fight.

“You put your gun at my freaking face, and told me to get the f–k out,” she screams.

During the 911 call, she claimed Zimmerman had four weapons: a Kel-Tec shotgun, an AR-15 and two handguns.

Zimmerman, who claimed self-defense when he shot the unarmed Martin, was acquitted last summer in that racially charged case under Florida’s controversial “stand your ground” law.

He has had numerous run-ins with the law since.

In September, Shellie Zimmerman accused him of smashing an iPad during an argument at their home.

She initially told a dispatcher her husband had a gun, although she later said he was not armed.

Her attorney, Kelly B. Sims, said she had been trying to hunt Zimmerman down for months in order to hand him the divorce documents.

She was finally able to serve him late Monday night with the help of jail guards.
