Los Angles has Lob City and now Fort Myers, Florida, has “Dunk City”.
After the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles shocked everyone becoming the first-ever No. 15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament by beating San Diego State 81-71 on Sunday, one of their players, Sherwood Brown, made reference to Fort Meyers as “Dunk City”. And Fort Meyers’ official website now reads: “City of Fort Meyers #Dunkcity.
Brown and the Eagles have had multiple highlight reel dunks in their two victories of the tournament thus far, prompting the star player to give the nickname to his school’s hometown.
