Brooklyn man says he was playing video games during time of Coney Island shooting

A Brooklyn man arraigned on murder charges today has five alibi witnesses he played video games with during the time of a fatal Coney Island shooting, the man’s lawyer and relatives said today.

Joseph Brown, 29, was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court and charged with murder and attempted murder for the Friday shooting that left one man dead and another likely to die.

“He was playing Call Of Duty with five other people in an apartment,” cousin Donald Franks said after court. “Unless you can kill somebody from a video game, he’s innocent.”

The Call Of Duty franchise is an entertainment juggernaut.

Defense attorney Anthony Baratta said in court that his client was not the shooter.

“There are five alibi witnesses that have put my client at a different location at the time of the shooting,” said Barrata.

Prosecutors said Brown was the shooter.

“It appears the defendant and an unapprehended other entered a location, shot four inside the location, killing one and and injuring another who is in the hospital and likely to die,” said assistant district attorney Wilfredo Cotto.

Brown was remanded without bail.
