Te’o improves stock at Notre Dame’s Pro Day

Manti Te’o helped his draft stock slightly during Notre Dame’s pro day yesterday, though he won’t be in New York to see where he is picked.

The linebacker improved on his 40-yard-dash time, running a 4.75 and 4.71 unofficially, according to on-scene reports. No longer considered a top-15 pick, Te’o could still be a late pick in the first round for a team that needs help at the inside linebacker position. Nevertheless, Te’o declined two invites to attend Radio City for next month’s draft, NFL.com reported.

The 4.71 time is about one-tenth of a second faster than Te’o’s time of 4.82 that he ran during last month’s NFL Scouting Combine. At the time of his running, Te’o was ranked 20th out of 26 linebackers who participated in the drill.

Te’o did not take part in the bench press drill in Indianapolis because of a stinger, but during the pro day he bench pressed 225 pounds 21 times.
