Do you know the way to bankruptcy? Grammy-winner Dionne Warwick has filed for Chapter 7 status in New Jersey, saying she owes nearly $10 million in back taxes.
Warwick, 72, said in a petition filed last week in US Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey, where she lives, that she has liabilities of nearly $7 million she owes the IRS for 1991 to 1999 and more than $3 million in business taxes due the state of California.
The five-time Grammy winner, whose hits include “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,’’ has a monthly income of $20,950 and monthly expenses of $20,940, according to the filing.
Warwick, a cousin of the late Whitney Houston, fell victim to “negligent and gross financial mismanagement,’’ her spokesman said.
