Brooklyn DA gets his close up

Just in time to catch the case of a man who spent 23 years in jail for a murder he didn’t commit, CBS has begun filming a behind-the-scenes crime series at Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes’ offices.

Cameras are following about a dozen prosecutors and their cases from arraignment to trial — and into their personal lives — for a six-episode series set to start in late May, the network said yesterday.

The show, “Brooklyn DA,” will be similar to “NY Med,” a series that aired on ABC last season about the medical staffs at two New York hospitals.

A former Manhattan prosecutor running against Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes called the CBS series a “campaign ad” that will attempt to rewrite history on Hynes’ misdeeds.

“We are drafting a letter to CBS asking them to delay the series until after the primary,” said Brooklyn DA candidate Abe George.

The show will be produced by the same team that does “48 Hours,” including CBS’ top real-crime producer Susan Zirinsky, who grew up in Far Rockaway.

“Brooklyn itself will be a major character” in the show, CBS News President David Rhodes said.

It’s the second time in two days Hollywood has landed in Brooklyn.

On Monday, MTV announced it was staging its centerpiece event, the Video Music Awards, at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn in August.
