Jay-Z an ‘agent’ of change

He‘s already a rap mogul, a clothing magnate and the unofficial king of Brooklyn. Now Jay-Z is planning to conquer the sports-management world — he’s launched an agency and bagged a Yankee superstar as his first client.

In a stunning announcement yesterday, Jay-Z revealed that he’s snatching Robinson Cano from superagent Scott Boras and that his new company, Roc Nation Sports, would rep the second baseman as he enters free agency.

For Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, Cano will be only the start of a stable of other high-profile clients in multiple sports.

“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” Jay-Z said in a statement.

The new agency is an offshoot of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which reps singers such as Rihanna and Kylie Minogue.

While Jay-Z would head Roc Nation Sports, Cano would actually be represented by Brodie Van Wagenen, from Creative Artists Agency, with which Roc Nation is partnering.

But sources told The Post that Jay-Z wants to become a certified agent himself. That could may be a problem, though, because if he wants to rep NBA stars, he may be forced to give up his small stake in the Brooklyn Nets.

Should that happen, he’d still be allowed to keep the less-than-1-percent interest he has in Barclays Center and remain on the board of directors of its holding company.

An NBA spokesman said, “There is no prohibition on NBA owners having an interest in businesses that represent non-NBA athletes,” but declined to comment further.

The Nets declined to address Jay-Z’s future with the club, but Nets/Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark said, “We fully support all of Jay-Z’s endeavors.”

A spokesman for Jay-Z also declined to comment.

Roc Nation Sports will be led by Jay-Z with Juan Perez serving as president.

Cano is making $15 million this year and can become a free agent commanding megabucks at the end of the season.

The move by Cano to Jay-Z’s agency could make it more likely he’ll reach a deal with the Bombers before free agency kicks in.
