De Blasio plans to sign paid-sick leave bill this week

Mayor de Blasio said Monday he won’t delay a bill forcing businesses with as few as five workers to provide five paid-sick days a year to their employees.

The mayor plans to sign the measure into law later this week and said it was imperative to enact the new law on schedule April 1.

“We didn’t want people who are sick to suffer. There are so many people that just could not wait,” he said.
