‘Duck Dynasty’ rules the ratings roost

All hail “Duck Dynasty,” the new king of prime time.

The comedy reality show — which ended its third season Wednesday night — drew a jaw-dropping 9.6 million viewers for its final episode.

In TV’s demographic sweet spot — 18-40 years old — it beat “American Idol” and “Survivor.”

In fact, it beat everything on TV that night — cable and broadcast.

The A&E show about a Louisiana family of backwoods millionaires — the money comes from their lucrative duck-call manufacturing business — has been a true phenomenon.

The show has nearly doubled its ratings over last season.

It has been so successful that the cable network is dumping longtime — but still popular shows — like “Hoarders” to make room for more comedy reality shows similar to “DD,” as fans call it for short.

The Robertson family has been in talks with the network for a significant pay raise in the series.

But the negotiations have not held up the start of filming of Season 4, which network officials say has already begun.

The family will continue negotiations while filming is underway, the network said.

“Duck Dynasty” stars Willie and Korie Robertson are set to go to tomorrow night’s White House Correspondents Dinner — one of the major social events of the year in Washington, DC — as guests of CBN News, the news arm of the Christian Broadcasting Network, founded by evangelist Pat Robertson.

News organizations compete to bring the biggest — and most newsworthy celebs — to the dinner, where the president traditionally delivers a comic send-up of the DC press corps.
