White House rips Weiner’s ‘creepy’ comeback

Anthony Weiner’s potential comeback bid for mayor is getting a thumbs-down from White House insiders, The Post has learned.

“Running for mayor is not a substitute for therapy. The voters won’t pick someone to be their mayor who sent pictures of his penis to random women around the world. It’s insane,” said one source with ties to President Obama. “It’s a vanity project. It’s creepy. It’s bizarre.”

Weiner — who resigned from Congress in 2011 after the sexting scandal — had conversations with DC insiders about a possible campaign before he floated a political comeback last week in a published report.

Weiner even reached out to his former pollster, Joel Benenson — who is now working on Christine Quinn’s mayoral campaign. Benenson declined to leave Quinn but said he’d help if Weiner ran for another citywide office, sources said.

Weiner declined comment.
