‘Warren is in the house’: Buffett announces belated Twitter arrival with hilarious tweet

Warren is in the house! Warren Buffett, that is.

The billionaire business magnate has finally joined Twitter, declaring he was “in the house” in a hilarious first tweet that was retweeted more than 11,000 times within the hour.

The man some consider the most successful investor of the 20th century announced his new online handle @WarrenBuffett during a speech at the University of Nebraska. As of 1:30 p.m. he had already attracted 64,000 followers.

Buffett has always resisted investing in technology companies because he says he can’t predict the future of those businesses the same way he can insurance or manufacturing.

He doesn’t have a computer in his office, but says he uses one at home for research, writing and playing bridge online.

“My family can no longer say I’m lodged back in the 19th century,” Buffett said during the speech, according to the Wall Street Journal.

He said it felt “pretty daring” to join up for the micro-blogging site.

“But the co-founder (Evan Williams) came from Nebraska so it can’t all be bad.”
