Elderly Bronx man fatally hit by unlicensed driver

An elderly Bronx man was struck and killed near his home by an unlicensed driver yesterday, police said.

Manuel Verdesoto, 82, of Soundview was trying to cross White Plains Road, at the intersection near Watson Avenue, about 7:20 p.m. when he was hit by a gray 2001 Volvo, cops said.

He died shortly after at Jacobi Hospital.

Driver Nabaali Cletus, 46, of Van Nest stayed on the scene but didn’t have a license—and allegedly had a forged New York State photo ID card on him.

Police charged him with operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
