Prosecutors waiting to indict alleged ‘peeping prof’ – next update Aug. 14

There’s no indictment yet for NYU’s alleged “Peeping Prof.”

Manhattan prosecutors are taking their time with the New York University art history professor who was allegedly caught using his iPhone to spy on two young women as they tried on vintage clothing at a West Village boutique.

Ross Finocchio, 34, looked nervous as he stood before a Manhattan Criminal Court judge this morning and was told that prosecutors won’t have an update on his case until his next court date, Aug. 14.

He declined comment as he shuffled out of court.

“Professor Finocchio maintains his innocence,” his lawyer, Stanislao German, said after court today.

Finocchio was busted May 10 after two women — ages 26 and 28 — told cops that they were trying on clothing at Beacon’s Closet when they saw a man’s shoe slide under the partition from the dressing room next door.

The shoe had an iPhone in it, the women told first the store manager, and then the police.

Finocchio — who was held at the store by management until police arrived — is an accomplished professor who has lectured at the Met and Sotheby’s, and who has won prizes for his knowledge of 19-Century art.

NYU has told The Post that Finocchio will have no contact with students until the criminal matter is resolved.

He remains charged with felony unlawful surveillance.
