Ex-gov Paterson and wife file for ‘mutual and amicable’ divorce

Former Gov. David Paterson and his estranged wife Michelle Paterson are making their separation permanent.

The couple filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday.

The filing came just days after the man he replaced as governor, Eliot Spitzer — who resigned amid a hooker scandal, handing the reins to his lieutenant — and his long-suffering wife Silda officially called it quits.

Page Six was the first to exclusively reveal Paterson and his wife had split back in September.

Neither Paterson listed an attorney in the uncontested proceeding, a sign it will be a smooth split.

A custody battle will not be an issue as their only son is over 18 years old. Their troubled marriage lasted for over 20 years.

The Patersons announced their separation in Sept. 2012, four years after they admitted to cheating on each other during their rocky marriage.

At the time they said the parting was “mutual and amicable.”

David, 59, and Michelle, 52, did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Sean Darcy, a spokesman for the ex governor, said, “Governor Paterson and his wife filed jointly for divorce. There is no dispute. They used the same lawyer and terms are already finalized. In fact, they co-hosted a charity dinner at Mt. Sinai hospital back in November and had dinner last Sunday together with their kids.”

Sources tell Page Six that both David and Michelle have moved on. She was seen arriving at Patricia Duff’s Common Good awards last November on the arm of Charles N. Atkins, a prominent Harvard-educated lawyer.
