9 best Super Bowl moments for non-football fans

For some people, the “Super Bowl” is just a football game that airs in between funny beer commercials and a big-time music extravaganza called the Halftime Show. These people are usually more excited for a wardrobe malfunction than a trick play. MTV Network’s Logo TV took a poll of favorite Super Bowl moments for people who hate the Super Bowl, and Madonna was the clear MVP. Here are the results of the Logo TV poll:

  1. 1. Madonna performs 'Vogue'

In 2012, Madonna donned a golden headdress and danced on top of a giant stage illuminated with the Vogue magazine logo. She performed her 1990 dance hit, and the crowd went wild. The Material Girl won this poll in a landslide, scoring more than 40 percent of the votes.

  2. 2. Whitney Houston sings 'The Star-Spangled Banner'

A young, fresh-faced Whitney Houston belted out a flawless rendition of the national anthem in 1991 at Tampa Stadium in Florida. Houston recorded her version of the song as a single that year and donated her portion of the proceeds to charity. In 2001, after the September 11 attacks, the song was rereleased, with proceeds going to New York firefighter and police funds.

  3. 3. Destiny's Child reunites for 'Single Ladies'

Last year’s Halftime Show served as a much-anticipated reunion for Beyoncé’s original music group, Destiny’s Child. Queen B invited Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland onstage to help her perform her hit “Single Ladies.”

  4. 4. LGBT-awareness PSA airs

The first ad of the “Think Before You Speak” campaign aired during the 2012 Super Bowl. The anti-gay bullying campaign featured Hilary Duff, Wanda Sykes and the NBA’s Grant Hill.

  5. 5. Mario Lopez runs through LA in his underwear

  6. 6. Coca-Cola’s 'Hey Kid, Catch' ad

This 1979 ad featured Pittsburgh Steeler “Mean” Joe Greene and an adorable young football fan. The classic commercial won a Clio ad award the year it aired.

In 2004, Mark Roberts snuck onto the Super Bowl field in Houston, Texas dressed as a referee, stripped and did a little dance dressed only in a thong. Later that year, he was given a $1,000 fine for trespassing.

  8. 8. 'I’m Going to Disney World' commercial

This iconic ad campaign began in 1987 with a commercial featuring New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms. Disney CEO at the time Michael Eisner has credited his wife, Jane, with coming up with the concept.

  9. 9. Matthew Broderick’s 'Ferris Bueller' commercial

Matthew Broderick reprised his 1986 “Ferris Bueller” role for this 2012 funny Honda CR-V commercial.
