Well that was fast!

Four amateur filmmakers have effectively beaten Hollywood to the punch and produced a short film dramatizing the first days of the Edward Snowden leaking scandal in Hong Kong.

Shot in just a week on a tiny budget, the five minute film features local Hong Kong actors and re-imagines the behind-the-scenes events that surrounded Snowden’s bombshell leaking of sensitive NSA documents revealing widespread surveillance.

“To be the first one to really do anything about it…it was quite invigorating,” cinematographer and editor Edwin Lee told AFP.

“This is a spy movie that’s developing.”
