Recently-fired construction worker opens fire on former co-worker

A disgruntled construction worker who was recently fired shot a former co-worker at a Hells Kitchen job site, law enforcement officials said.

Louis Lamburini, 56, a master mechanic in charge of a water main project along 9th Avenue near W. 49th Street, was sitting in a company van shortly after 9:30 p.m. when a shooter walked up and shot him in the shoulder, cops said.

The supervisor, who works for Judlau Water Works in Queens, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Witnesses said they saw the shooter flee in a white vehicle along W. 49th Street. They said the gunman fired several shots.

No arrests have been made yet, although workers gave cops an identification of the suspect.

He is described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old, bald and with tattoos covering his arms.

Officials suspect Lamburini was the intended target.

Investigators were also looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras, officials said.

The stretch of Hell’s Kitchen has been under construction for about 8 months workers said.

Edward Conway, director of health and safety for Judlau Water Works said workers were shaken up by the shooting.

He said the construction workers are members of a “small family company.”

“I’ve know the guy for years,” Conway said. “ He’s actually a friend of mine. So it’s hard.”
