Hall of Famers Trot at Goshen

John Campbell, Dave Palone and Herve Filion headline the $10,000 Mr. and Mrs. Elbridge Gerry Trot, Sunday at Goshen Historic Track in upstate New York.

Campbell is the sport’s all-time money-earning driver with $282,171,856, while Palone is its all-time leading dash-winner with 15,840.

Palone became the record-holder last summer when he passed Filion, who had held the prestigious mark for 41 years.

The field, totally comprised of Hall of Fame drivers, also features Cat Manzi, who ranks third on the dash list with 14,743 victories.

Driver/trainer Dick Stillings makes his debut in this year’s race.

Synonymous with the “Spur” surname, Stillings, who campaigned back-to-back Little Brown Jug champions Barberry Spur (1986) and Jaguar Spur (1987), will be inducted into the Living Hall of Fame later that evening.

The balance of the Hall of Fame drivers participating, in alphabetical order, are: Jimmy Doherty, Wally Hennessey, Mike Lachance and Jimmy Takter.

Following the race, all eight drivers will have a meet and greet with their fans and sign photos.

Post time for the first race is 1 p.m.
