More snow, extreme cold weather for New York

It’s not over yet. More snow will hit the Big Apple on Saturday followed by another storm threat late next week — but the nasty weather could ease in time for the Super Bowl, experts predict.

A bone-chilling “arctic cold front” will dust New York with roughly an inch of snow on Saturday, experts said.

Temperatures should warm up slightly, to a low of 13, after a brutal week that dumped more than 6 inches of snow on the city and brought single-digit temps.

“Saturday is going to be very windy with slippery travel weather,” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Bernie Rayno.

Sunday will be clear, but more flurries are expected on Monday, according to Accuweather.com

“Brutally cold” temperatures in the single digits will again strike on Tuesday and Wednesday due to another northern cold front, Rayno said.

More snow could then dump on New York Friday and Saturday, due to a storm traveling north — but it could be pushed east in time for the game.

“The weather is going to be talked about just as much as the Seahawks and the Broncos. And I can tell you there’s going to be a threat,” Rayno predicted.

“But I’m banking that the threat is out of there by Super Bowl Sunday,” Rayno said.

Three out of four meteorologists featured on WillItSnow.com, which tracks Super Bowl weather, agree.

Another expert, Henry Margusity, added, “[It will be] very cold next week for the preparations. Snow threats will come late in the week, but indications are that the snow is done by game day.”

The storm will likely leave the northwest by Saturday afternoon, experts said.
