Starbucks barista sues boss for alleged sexual harassment

A young Starbucks barista claims her boss sexually harassed her at the Union Square coffee shop where she worked – and that Starbucks management ignored her complaints, Manhattan Supreme Court papers state.

Emily Feliciano, 23, began work as a barista in August 2013. She says an assistant manager began to harass her during her first week of work, according to the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

“[The assistant manager] told Ms. Feliciano she should call him ‘daddy’ and repeatedly demanded that she have sexual intercourse with him,” the suit alleges.

Last month, the supervisor allegedy trapped Feliciano in a stairwell and groped her and kissed her neck and only let her go when she started to scream, the suit states.

After Felicano reported the attack, the store manager “called and berated her” for talking about it, she claims in her suit.

“We have zero tolerance for harassment in our workplace,” said Starbucks spokesman Zack Hutson. “We take these types of accusations seriously, but we are unable to discuss them in detail because this involves pending litigation.”
