Pruthviraj Patil was stunned to learn he was front-page news in The Post last month – half a world away from his village outside Mumbai, India.
The youngster could hardly believe his eyes when he saw the newspaper had reported his heartbreaking story and the incredible news that a medical breakthrough could be imminent at Columbia University.
“He obviously didn’t understand what was written, but he seemed to be happy,” said photographer Niklas Halle’n, who delivered some New York goodies to the child.
The grinning youngster was soon proudly donning an “I Love New York” T-shirt – a gift from his pals at the newspaper – as he headed off for a bike ride with his friends.
Pruthviraj boy suffers from hypertrichosis – sometimes called “werewolf syndrome” – which causes thick hair growth all over the body.
