“Undo a wrong,” said state Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) – a former NYPD captain – standing outside the US Attorney General’s office in Brooklyn yesterday. “Justice cannot stop in the [state] Supreme Court when there’s a possibility of seeking justice in the federal court.”
Timoshenko, 23, and his partner, Herman Yan, were shot in July 2007 after pulling over a BMW in Crown Heights. Timoshenko was shot twice in the face and died days later. Yan survived after being hit in his bullet-resistant vest.
After a month of testimony and a single day of deliberating, a jury acquitted Ellis of aggravated murder and attempted murder – finding him guilty only of gun charges. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
Dexter Bostic, 36, was found guilty of shooting the officer and faces life in prison.
