STARS are people too, or so the saying goes. Like us, come New Year’s, they make at least one resolution. In that spirit, we had just one question for the boldfaced bunch: Where will you be heading in 2009?
Taylor Momsen
Somewhere warm, like Jamaica. Or Hawaii. I haven’t been to any tropical islands; that would be cool. I love the beach and I’m a fish in the ocean.
Emanuelle Chriqui
India, Thailand, Vietnam and Turkey. I’m intrigued by all those places, especially India. I, like, have an affinity for Indian food, the people, the culture.
Ralph Fiennes
I’d like to do the Trans-Siberian Express.
Darren Aronofsky
Mexico. That’s my mainstay. I love the Yucatan Peninsula.
Kelsey Grammer
We were thinking of going to Dubai, soon. We have a friend who’s a developer there. Basically, we’d like to see what he’s working on. I [also] want to go to Iraq, to visit the troops.
Baz Luhrmann
I’m going to do a walkabout. That’s the Aboriginal idea of going on a sort of spiritual journey where you leave all of your material stuff behind and you go walking – you go traveling and you leave all of this behind. I want to leave my title, my name, who I am behind. And the Aboriginals say, ‘Until you find the other half of yourself that you’ve lost, then you have a good talk with yourself and you become one again, and then you can go on with life.’ So, I need to go on that kind of journey.
John Leguizamo
Tokyo. It’s the most futuristic city in the world, and I don’t know – I love Japanese food; I love Japanese things. All things Japanese are pretty cool. I want to eat tons of sushi. I want to see that Times Square place where they have enormous TVs.
Deepa Mehta
I want to go up the Nile from Cairo to Luxor. Some of my favorite books have been based – “The Alexandra Quartet” is all in that area. It’s all around there that Lawrence Durrell got his inspiration to write “The Quartet.” And I really want to go there.
Phillip Bloch
Washington, DC, for the inauguration, because I can’t wait to see the change for myself.
Rihanna
Thailand! I want to ride elephants.
Matthew Modine
The Isle of Capri. It’s such a beautiful place – a little island in the middle of the Mediterranean that was the home of all the Roman emperors. In the wintertime, when there’s nobody there, it’s a great destination, because it’s quiet and you’re just with the locals. There are no tourists. It’s melancholy, but romantic.
Haley Joel Osment
I’m an avid snowboarder. I’ve been to some great places in Utah. I’d like to make it out there at some point, yeah.
Anthony Haden-Guest
Somewhere where there is no media, somewhere where there’s sunshine and laughing seas and where I can justathere’s no such place on this planet any more.
Mickey Rourke
London. I feel at home there.
